    On February 17, 2017, the IUEC lost a brother in Tallahassee, Florida.  Brother Robert Myers worked with Otis Elevator and was the on site mechanic at the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare buildings.  We were all notified by the International of Brother Myers passing, and we sent our heart felt wishes to Local #49 and all our brothers and sisters at that time.

    The Illinois House was the only chamber in session this week. The deadline to pass House Bills out of committee is Friday, March 31st. The House will be primarily focused on that deadline when they return next week. Both chambers will be in session next week, beginning at 12pm on Tuesday.     Sue Mann and Pam Edgerley have retired!

    Sue Mann and Pam Edgerley have retired. Both have been faces of this union for 20 plus years and we are sad to say goodbye. The two of them are looking forward to spending more time with their grandchildren and living a slow-paced life after years of hard work! All of us at Local 455 wish the two of them a wonderful retirement.

    At three years old, Kona has experienced enough pain to last a lifetime. The Shar-pei mix was found on the streets of Juarez, Mexico after being hit by a car. After losing the use of his two front legs, the dog had been dragging himself along so long that bone was exposed. His injuries were so far gone that a vet made the decision to amputate Kona's front legs.
